In Book 9, we branch out to four letter words using the short "i" sound and make use once again of the exclamation point. The student also branches out in working on short "i" surrounded by a variety of different consonants. He practices "ill," "ig," as well as the plural form of words learned earlier. Your student is now only one book away from having learned and practiced all of the short vowel sounds, and this puts that student well on the way to becoming a life-long reader.

  • I have tried all of these readers with many emergent readers with Success and Great Success, but no less than that. They love the funny and colorful pictures which help to lead them to read the text. They really enjoy the experience and want to show it to everyone! Heart laughter accompanies exploration of the books. I think that even the non-English speakers catch on faster because of these pictures. They feel such a sense of accomplishment when they finish each book, but are not exhausted by the effort. Thank you for letting me field test them - after two years, I am still finding ways to use these books.
