Robert Cohen was the Claire Trevor Professor of Drama at the University of California, Irvine. A professional director, playwright and translator, his twenty published books include five on acting (including his defining text, Acting Power: the 21st Century Edition and his best-selling Acting One and Acting Professionally), plus Theatre, Creative Play Direction, Giraudoux: Three Faces of Destiny, Working Together in Theatre: Collaboration and Leadership and forthcoming memoir, Falling Into Theatre.
He has translated plays and operas from French, German and Italian; had his own plays staged in New York, Los Angeles, Hungary, Romania and the Netherlands; directed fifteen classical productions at the Utah and Colorado Shakespeare Festivals; and giving acting seminars and workshops throughout the United States and in over a dozen countries around the world.
